West Wind Farm Vineyard & WineryA five acre vineyard, tasting room and production space, as well as 3200 square foot custom home on over 100 acres in the Blue Ridge Mountains near Wytheville
West Wind Farm is a fourth generation homestead in Virginia’s Blue Ridge Mountains just minutes from I-81 and I-77. A 1500-case winery is in operation with an established retail, wholesale, and events business.
Since opening in 2006, over forty awards have been given to the various wines produced. Its tasting room and label design have been recognized as well. West Wind Farm Vineyard & Winery was only the second winery in the Commonwealth to be certified Virginia Green – an indication of its commitment to principles of sustainability.
The location is both accessible and peaceful simultaneously, only minutes from a major interstate highway interchange and located on a wide, two-lane US highway (52). Usable outdoor space is in abundance and the building is full of natural light.
A custom-built hilltop home commands views that go for miles in all directions. Enhanced finishes were incorporated into this comfortable, spacious residence including extensively planned landscaping.

The Tasting Room
West Wind Farm’s winery tasting room has been recognized as one of the best in the Commonwealth. An inviting bar greets you upon entry. The structure is full of natural light (including a clerestory) and large beams dominate the upper space. A carefully-cultivated retail space exists as well as spacious bathrooms and an event space with inside seating for 40. The tasting room opens out onto a patio with some cover and further onto a green lawn. A gazebo-type pavilion is just over the hill and is suitable for music events, weddings, or just relaxing with a glass of wine.
Square footage: Building is 4800 sq. ft. with 1600 of that in the production area. 3200 sq. ft. encompasses the tasting room and event space. The covered crush pad is an additional 400 sq. ft.
In 2003, five acres of grapes were planted on a southern facing slope at West Wind Farm. The well-draining soil, regular breeze, and cool mountain evenings make for an inviting climate for grape growing. VSP trellising is in place as well as a drip irrigation system, mesh deer fencing, and electrical fencing as well.
The Main House
Custom built in 2003 with 3200 sq. ft., this home has scenic views from all sides. The house can be powered by a propane-fueled standby generator in the case of an electrical outage. Two zone heat and air conditioner system, complete water filtration system, central vacuum, custom cabinets in kitchen, sun room, and library. House contains heavy crown molding throughout with Pella windows. Mature, planned landscaping accents the brick home and there are views of the vineyard from all of the rooms on the house’s front side. Both formal and informal spaces for entertaining, including the patio with spectacular mountain views. A monitored security system is installed and much more!
Potential For Expansion
On the property is a circa 1840 farm house that would be suitable for restoration. Potential uses could be a guest house or bed and breakfast, additional retail or event/meeting space.
